Normally we backup files and data in another partitioned drive. This is a basic way that we divide our hardisk into two sections, drive C: and D: , drive C: for placing various programs and other document files, drive D: for storing backup files. However, we should backup our files by using a Windows XP tool. Why should we use this ? It is easy and advantageous to restore our files and even Windows settings from a Windows tool. Now we backup them first, let’s do it !
How to Backup files and settings ?
- Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Backup.
- In the Backup or Restore Wizard window, click Next.
- Select Back up files and settings and then click Next.
- This window want you to specify what you want to backup. Select My documents and settings. Click Next.
- Click browse… to choose the location to save your backup. The backup file will be .bkf format.
- After we choose the media and location, click Next and wait for the process until it is finished.
How to Restore your files and settings ? : Restore from the .bkf file.
- Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Backup.
- In the Backup or Restore Wizard window, Click Next.
- Select Restore files and settings and then click Next.
- Choose the backup file which is .bkf format.
- Check the boxes in front of the files or folders you want to restore and then click Next.
- Wait for the restore process until it is finished.
